There is a lot of need across the country. I stumbled luckily into that world, where I had the real rare privilege of being able to help direct funds to artists, but quickly discovered that it would be helpful to be on the other side of the equation, to better understand what it’s like to have to ask for support and to work with organizations who are always seeking that kind of help, as they work to address the needs of their community, and going far beyond the arts although I love the arts very much. As I think I’ve told you earlier, recently, I began as a grant maker. Where do I begin? I’ve been in the world of philanthropy and fundraising since I started working.
